DNA testing: If our male is a carrier for any disease, your bitch must be DNA tested clear of that disease.
D-Locus test mandatory
Negative brucellosis test taken within the last 15 days before breeding
Waterfowl Widowmakers retains the right to refuse a breeding at any time.
All breedings are guaranteed to produce a litter. A litter shall be considered a litter, if at least two live (2) puppies are whelped.
A deposit in the amount of 50% of the stud fee plus a $100 breeding fee is payable at the time of the breeding/shipping of chilled semen. The breeding fee and stud fee deposit are non-refundable. If the bitch fails to produce a litter, rebreeds will be given within 2 years. If the original bitch is no longer available to fulfill the breeding, another bitch may be substituted.
Fees can be paid by cash, check, or debit/credit cards. Card transactions are subject to a 5% additional charge for fees. Make Checks payable to Waterfowl Widowmakers.
Accurate timing utilizing PROGESTERONE levels is the most critical factor in the success of breeding. Many breedings are done far too early and result in misses. We would like to minimize misses based on timing. Guessing and using prior breeding times for a bitch is a waste of everyone's time and money. Your best chance at getting a litter is by utilizing an actual PROGESTERONE NUMBER.
This is a chart provided by IDEXX which we go by for breeding. Please follow this chart and give to your veterinarian when planning for a breeding. You can usually wait to do the first progesterone number on the 8th day. Do not stop testing until you've reached a number over 5.
Below 1.0 ng/ml - no ovarian activity - ACTION: Test every 3 or 4 days
1.0 to 2.0 ng/ml - rise indicates active ovary - ACTION: test in 2 to 3 days
2.0 to 4.9 ng/ml - active ovary - ACTION - Test every 24 hours until you determine 5.0
5.0 ng/ml OVULATION
5 to 6 ng/ml - ACTION - Breed in 2 to 3 days
6 to 11 ng/ml - ACTION - BREED in 1 to 2 days
11 to 19 ng/ml - ACTION - BREED TODAY
OVER 19 ng/ml - ACTION - BREED IMMEDIATELY if vaginal smear is OK and bitch is still receptive. Too late to ship semen.
Not much can be determined by the numbers after 5, but you should not determine a breeding date until you get a number 5 or over.
The owner of the bitch will be responsible for any expenses pertaining to chilled semen. This includes veterinary collection fees, extenders, shipping kits, shipping fees, insertion fees, etc.
The owner of the bitch will contact Innovative Canine Reproduction, https://www.innovativecaninereproduction.com, to arrange for a chilled semen kit to be sent to Waterfowl Widowmakers prior to the breeding time.
It is suggested that the owner of the bitch create their own FedEx account. It is very simple to do and facilitates shipping. To open your free account, click here. FedEx will charge your credit card for shipments. If you instead choose to have us bill you, there is a $15 charge per shipment and an additional 5% for credit card transactions.
The remaining 50% of the stud fee is due no later than 7 days post whelping of 2 or more live pups.
The easiest way to register a litter is to complete the Litter Registration online on the AKC and UKC websites. All Stud Dog's Registration #s are listed on their page for your convenience.
If you would like your litter listed on the litter page, send an e-mail with your name, contact info, whelp date, and what you have available. Please note that puppies under 3 weeks of age will not be posted until they reach at least that milestone.
